He Saved the Best for Last

He Saved the Best for Last
I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day and that the year is starting out well. I wanted to drop by to let you know what I’ve been up to lately. At present, I have two new completed manuscripts, the start of a new standalone series: The Dancing Hills Mystery Series. One of the manuscrips is currently under consideration by a fabulous literary agency. If all goes well, I'll be able to make an announcement soon regarding representation and eventually a book deal. I’m thrilled with the finished products and can’t wait to introduce this new work to the world. The stories are full of twists and will keep you turning the pages and one has a paranormal element. In a word, they’re both delicious! On the acting front, I’ve been auditioning and am hoping to soon land my first gig of 2018. I must give kudos to The Brogan Agency. Shaw Brogan and her team are some of the hardest working agents in Hollywood! All in all, I’m blessed. Looking over my life, I have to say that being in my fifties is a delight! God truly saved the best for last. My twenties were tumultuous—t...

Five Minutes Before the Miracle

Five Minutes Before the Miracle
Happy 2018! My hope for all of you is that you realize your wildest dreams in this New Year. I have high expectations for 2018. Someone once said that an expectation is a planned disappointment, but I choose to disregard that. I choose to believe and have faith. I choose to not give up five minutes before the miracle. What do I mean by that? I think the following situation I experienced will shed light on this phrase. The other day while I was shopping at Albertson’s, there was a young man in front of the store selling candy. I recently cut back on sweets, so I was not interested in his product. Moreover, I had no cash on me. I noticed that several other customers were passing him by, barely looking his way, and steering clear of the young entrepreneur.   On the way out, it was hard not to have compassion for him, especially when I got a glimpse of his dreary expression. At that moment, I was moved to do something special for him. I drove to the bank that was directly across from the store, got twenty dollars, and headed back to  Albertsons. It took...

The Latest and the Greatest

The Latest and the Greatest
Hello everyone! Please forgive me for my absence, but I’ve been very busy since my last post, and I’m sure you have, too. Wow! There’s a lot going on with all of us and a lot going on in the world. Some good things and some scary things. Speaking of scary, I can’t believe Halloween will be here in twenty days. Before we know it, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s will have come and gone. Whew! Let me take a breath. Okay, in my last post I announced the launch of the third book in the Detective Rachel Storme Series—“A Penny For Her Heart.” The book is now available on Amazon and is doing well. I hope you can get a copy. Many people are asking if there will be a fourth book in the series. Yes, there will be. It will launch sometime next year. At the present time, I’m in the final stages of a new work yet to be titled. It’s a mystery featuring a mother and a stepdaughter. I’m really excited about this book. I’m also acting again. I’ve been auditioning for commercials, TV, and film. I’m with The Brogan Agency and they’re amazing. Shaw Brogan, H...

Dare to Dream and Leap into the Life You Were Meant to Live

Dare to Dream and Leap into the Life You Were Meant to Live
Six months ago I was spending the majority of my waking hours driving the freeways of Los Angeles. Actually, I did this for fourteen years while working on my last two day jobs that were both located in Century City. Monday through Friday at 4:50 a.m., I would awake to my ringing alarm and invariably I would turn over and hit the snooze button, not wanting to leave the comfort of my warm bed. I dreaded the inevitable two-hour drive west on the 10 freeway, not knowing what I might encounter on the way. Would I become the victim of road rage or some drunken driver? Thankfully, God spared me. Once I made it to the other side of town, I would spend eight hours each day, answering phones, setting up meetings, completing expense reports—honest, but mind-numbing work. The truth of the matter was is that while I roamed the halls of my corporate job, visions of writing my books full time and acting danced through my head. Don’t get me wrong, I was grateful to be employed, to have a job, but I had reached a point in my life that I wanted more than a job, I wante...

Undecided

Undecided
This year’s presidential race brings to mind Matthew 22:14: “For many are called, but few are chosen.”  According to Wikipedia, at the outset, there were twenty republican presidential candidates and fourteen democratic presidential candidates. That’s a total of thirty-four candidates. Add seventeen more, and you’d have fifty-one, a candidate for every state. The number is astounding and unprecedented. At present it’s dwindled down to six republican candidates and two democratic candidates. Many have fallen by the wayside due to a lack of support and or finances.  Remaining on the republican side are Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Ben Carson. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are the remaining democrats. I’m far from being a political junkie, but his year’s race that includes a billionaire business man with a penchant for speaking his mind, a neurosurgeon, another Bush, another Clinton and an unabashed socialist, has gotten my attention. The last time I found myself this engaged was during the 2008 presidentia...

Giving Birth to My 9th Child

Giving Birth to My 9th Child
I apologize for my absence, but I’ve been writing and editing for the past six months—consulting with my development editor and my beta readers. Finally, I’ve given birth to another literary baby. I’m so excited about this new work, and I can’t wait to introduce it to the world. However, depending on the outcome, it may be a while before I can do the latter. It’s my dream to land a traditional book deal for my baby and that’s more than a notion. It’s definitely a process.   At the present time, I’m seeking literary representation. In order to get the attention of the big publishing houses, I need an agent to advocate on my behalf. I need someone to fall in love with and believe in my baby. The search for an agent can be elusive at best and maddening at worst. Writing is so subjective, and one person’s literary masterpiece can be another person’s literary monstrosity. I’m hoping my work won’t fall in the latter category. So far I’ve sent out a handful of query letters, and I’m waiting to get responses. Agents sometimes respond with silence a...
